Trainer John Sadler will face the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board after Racing Victoria stewards laid two charges against him following positive swabs from winning stablemates Deep Cove and Irish Golfer.
Urine samples from both horses in January contained the nervous system stimulant synephrine, a prohibited substance.
The samples were taken from Deep Cove after winning at Sandown on January 11 and from Irish Golfer scoring at Werribee four days later.
Stewards laid the charges against Sadler under Australian Rules of Racing (AR) 178 on Tuesday.
One of Victoria’s most respected trainers, Sadler is a partner with Troy Corstens under the Malua Racing banner.
During his career Sadler has trained for the Maktoum family in Dubai as well as leviathan Victorian owner Lloyd Williams.
While with Williams he was involved with major winners including Efficient and Zipping.
No date has yet been set for the RAD Board hearing.
Meanwhile, the RAD Board will decide on Monday whether barrier rogue Here De Angels races again after an appeal from the gelding’s managing owner John Crowley.
Crowley lodged an appeal against the decision of Racing Victoria stewards and the severity of the penalty imposed when stewards barred the horse from racing.
